RAYMONDVILLE, Texas, Dec. 2 (UPI) -- A Texas judge has tossed indictments charging corruption against Vice President Dick Cheney, former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales and others.

In summarily dismissing the indictments Monday, Willacy County Judge Manuel Banales said county attorney Juan Angel Guerra "failed to comply with the law" in obtaining the eight indictments Nov. 17, finding the grand jury hadn't been properly convened, The San Antonio Express-News reported Tuesday.

Banales also dismissed indictments against two state judges, two special prosecutors, a state lawmaker, a prison company and a district clerk.

The indictment against Cheney alleged his investment in the Vanguard Group, which invests in private prisons, was a conflict of interest. The indictment against Gonzales claimed he used his position to stop a prison abuse investigation in Willacy County.
