CORLEONE, Italy, Dec. 1 (UPI) -- The grown sons of jailed Costa Nostra bosses Bernardo Provenzano and Salvatore Riina are asking the Italian public to let their families live in peace.
"We find ourselves at the center of continuous gossip despite not being
celebrities nor people who have chosen to live in the limelight," said Angelo Provenzano, 33, who lives with his mother and brother in Corleone and is studying for a communication science degree, ANSA reported Monday.
Provenzano and his brother, Francesco, 26, this week broke their silence to say they have nothing to do with the Mafia and wish to live in peace.
Earlier this month, Giuseppe Salvatore, 31, Riina's youngest son, who was recently acquitted homicide, asked judges to let him leave Corleone so he isn't "constantly crushed by the weight of his father's name," Salvatore's lawyer said.
Bernardo Provenzano and Riina, known as "The Beast," are serving life sentences in Italian prisons for numerous Mafia-related homicides, ANSA reported.
