PRINCETON, N.J., Nov. 10 (UPI) -- Public approval for U.S President George Bush is very low and ratings for President-elect Barack Obama are sky-high, Gallup poll results indicated Monday.

Gallup Poll Daily tracking results indicate only 27 percent of Americans approve of the job Bush is doing as president while 70 percent hold a favorable view of Obama.

While the contrast between Obama and Bush is based on different measures, Gallup said the ratings produced by the two lines of surveying provide a good indication of the gap that exists between Bush and Obama in popularity.

In addition, roughly two-thirds of Americans expressed confidence in Obama's ability to be a good president, the Princeton, N.J., polling agency said.

Results were based on telephone interviews Thursday-Saturday with 1,546 adults. The margin of error is 3 percentage points.
