Barrasso was elected over Democrat Nick Carter to fill out the term of Sen. Craig Thomas, R-Wyo., who died last year. He made wind and clean-coal development a major plank of his platform while at the same time insisted on environmental protections for the Wyoming Range.
Enzi was considered one of the safest GOP senators in the race and dispatched his Democratic opponent, University of Wyoming professor Chris Rothfuss.
The Wyoming Eagle Tuesday called Enzi a solid conservative, but added that his "willingness to reach across the aisle to seek solutions also makes him one of the most effective (senators).
"He simply has a knack for getting things done," the Eagle said.
