GABORONE, Botswana, Oct. 29 (UPI) -- A court in the southern Africa country of Botswana has ruled that five soldiers and two police officers took part in various sex crimes nearly three years ago.
The seven defendants, whose ages range from 20 and 28, now all are facing up to 10 years in prison after being found guilty of targeting Zimbabwean immigrants for illicit sex acts in 2005, The New Zimbabwean said Wednesday.
Prosecutors in the case had accused the men of forcing male and female immigrants to undress and engage in sexual acts in front of them.
Monashe Ndlovu, a magistrate in the Botswana town of Serowe, told the court that special constable Phetogo Gabanakobo and soldier Thato Bogosi were the main perpetrators of the crimes on Nov. 25, 2005.
The two men will be sentenced along will fellow defendants Samuel Seshabo, Pako Tlhabaki, Moagi Samson, Koziba Balopi and special constable Sydney Ntope on Nov. 21, the Zimbabwean reported.
