CAMDEN, N.J., Oct. 27 (UPI) -- An Egyptian national is to testify in the ongoing trial of five men charged an alleged terror plot against Fort Dix in New Jersey, prosecutors say.
Government prosecutors say they intend to have Mahmoud Omar testify about the information he learned after being paid $238,000 to serve as an informant in the investigation of the alleged terror plot, the Philadelphia Daily News said Monday.
Brothers Shain and Dritan Duka stand accused in the trial of planning a terror attack on the U.S. Army facility. The pair were arrested May 7 along with three other suspects: Eljvir Duka, Mohamad Shnewer and Serdar Tatar.
Prosecutors say Omar infiltrated the alleged terror cell in March 2006 and will now testify about what he learned while with the group.
The Daily News said among the details Omar is expected to offer up are possible attack strategies allegedly discussed by the group and alleged intelligence-gathering missions group members conducted at Fort Dix and other sites.
