ORLANDO, Fla., Oct. 22 (UPI) -- A Florida couple says they think their granddaughter is still alive even though a grand jury has returned a murder indictment in her disappearance.
George and Cindy Anthony told interviewer Meredith Viera on NBC's "Today" show Wednesday that they have not given up hope of finding Caylee Marie alive, The Orlando Sentinel reported.
Cindy Anthony called the murder indictment another "tactic" to prevent lawyers for her daughter, Casey, from viewing evidence in the case.
She also told "Inside Edition," "I believe (Caylee's) out there and I believe we're going to find her." Her husband told "Inside Edition" he has never questioned whether his daughter had something to do with the disappearance of his granddaughter. "I've never asked myself that. The reason why is I know she would never do that," he said.
Last week, an Orange County grand jury charged Casey Anthony, 22, with first-degree murder in her then 2-year-old daughter's disappearance more than three months ago.
Anthony also faces charges of aggravated child abuse, aggravated manslaughter of a child and four counts of providing false information to law enforcement officers.
Earlier charges of child neglect have been dropped, the report said.
The state's attorney's office said the neglect charges were premised on the theory that Caylee Marie was still alive.
