Spokesman: We think Caylee is alive

ORLANDO, Fla., Oct. 17 (UPI) -- A spokesman for the lawyers representing the mother of a missing Florida girl Friday denied telling CNN lawyers in the case believe Caylee Anthony is dead.

Todd Black, spokesman for lawyer Jose Baez, spoke to CNN in a live telephone interview Tuesday night. His statement was replayed on the network Wednesday.

"This is a very serious case involving not just the loss of the life of this little girl, but the loss of whatever is going to happen with Casey Anthony," he said.

In a press release, Black accused CNN of using "deceptive editing" on the interview. He said that most of the news media have been drinking "too much Palmetto Bug Punch."

Casey Anthony was charged this week with killing her daughter. She first reported her missing in July, saying she had been kidnapped by a babysitter a month earlier.

Baez takes the position there is no evidence the 3-year-old is dead. Police have reportedly found forensic evidence that a body was at one point in the trunk of a car her mother used.

CNN says the Black quote was not edited, although the interview was cut for broadcast, the Orlando Sentinel reported.
