Todd Palin to answer written questions

ANCHORAGE, Alaska, Oct. 7 (UPI) -- U.S. vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin's husband will only respond to written queries from an Alaska legislative panel investigating her, a spokesman said.

The questions will be given to Todd Palin via his attorney, the McCain-Palin campaign's Anchorage office said Monday in an announcement.

A judge ruled last week that aides to the Alaska governor must respond to subpoenas from the committee, which is investigating allegations she fired her public safety commissioner because he refused to fire her sister's ex-husband. The campaign said Todd Palin can fulfill his legal obligations by giving written answers to questions from the legislative investigator.

"That's really a question for the full Senate to decide, though his cooperation is certainly something that anyone would look favorably upon," Sen. Hollis French, a Democrat who is in charge of the investigation told the News, responding to a question about whether Todd Palin needs to appear personally.
