Hornets kill two in China

BEIJING, Sept. 28 (UPI) -- Chinese authorities say hornet attacks killed two people and injured 29 more at a festival in Yichang and on a farm in Guilin.

Four people were in critical condition Sunday after hornets attacked and caused a stampede at a festival held Saturday night in Yichang to celebrate tourism, Xinhua reported.

In Guilin, two villagers were stung to death and three others injured by hornets when they tried to remove a hornet's nest from a tree last week, , China's state-run news agency reported.

Hornets are especially active around their nests in autumn, said Chinese officials, who urged all nests to be reported to local fire departments for proper disposal.
