Cops: Couple put slain mother in suitcase

HOUSTON, Sept. 2 (UPI) -- A 19-year-old Houston man allegedly conspired with his 17-year-old girlfriend to kill her 55-year-old mother and stuff her body into a suitcase, police said.

Authorities said a motorist in northeast Harris County, Texas, discovered a suitcase Sunday morning alongside a secluded private road, opened it and found the remains of Maria Rodriguez, the Houston Chronicle reported Tuesday.

After finding the body, police discovered Rodriguez had been reported missing Friday by her husband. Investigators say daughter Priscilla Rodriguez, 17, confessed to helping boyfriend Gerson Funes-Reina put her mother's body in the suitcase after he allegedly killed her.

Funes-Reina was charged with murder and Priscilla Rodriguez with abuse of a corpse, the Chronicle said.
