Rep. Keller survives tough Fla. primary

WASHINGTON, Aug. 27 (UPI) -- Florida Rep. Ric Keller has survived a tough Republican primary despite an opponent's claim he is violating a term-limit pledge.

Radio talk show host Todd Long challenged the four-term congressman, recalling Keller had used the same issue to defeat former Rep. Bill Sublette in the 2000 primary, The Hill reported Wednesday.

Keller prevailed in this year's primary with a 53-47 percent margin, in part because of a big fundraising edge. He will now face face Democrat Alan Grayson, who easily beat rivals Mike Smith and Charlie Stuart by receiving 48 percent of primary votes cast in the largely Republican 8th District.
