Three FLDS members indicted

ELDORADO, Texas, Aug. 21 (UPI) -- A Texas grand jury investigating alleged crimes within a polygamous sect has indicted three people, a court clerk said.

The indictments of Fundamentalist Latter Day Saints Church members followed testimony from, among others, several young women and the church's spokesman, The Deseret Morning News reported Thursday.

FLDS member and spokesman Willie Jessop said he was unsure if any indictments would be issued.

"We're always hoping for a miracle," Jessop said.

The grand jury will reconvene Sept. 23, the newspaper reported. The panel is investigating alleged crimes at the sect's YFZ ranch near Eldorado, Texas.

Six men belonging to the sect have been previously indicted -- including FLDS leader Warren Jeffs, 52, who was charged with sexual assault involving a girl under 17, and Allan Eugene Keate, 56, indicted on a charge of sexual assault in a purported marriage with a girl under 17.
