LITTLE ROCK, Ark., Aug. 15 (UPI) -- The man who gunned down the Arkansas Democratic Party chairman and was shot by police two hours later left few clues about his motives, police said.
Investigators who searched Timothy Johnson's home near Searcy, Ark., found a note of Democratic Party Chairman Bill Gwatney's name and telephone number and two key chains from Gwatney car dealerships, the Arkansas Democrat reported. The search also turned up 14 guns and an anti-depressant drug.
"We are following up on what we found and seeing where that takes us and what it's all going to mean," Little Rock Police Department spokesman Lt. Terry Hastings said Thursday. "Some things may turn out to be very useful, but at this time there is nothing new and the investigation is ongoing."
Johnson did not appear to be a partisan. He had voted in the primaries of both political parties.
He had also registered for computer classes at Arkansas State University, where school starts next week.
