Bus crash kills 25 in China

BEIJING, Aug. 13 (UPI) -- A bus crashed into a mountain in China's northwest Xinjiang region, killing at least 25 of the passengers, most of them high school students authorities said.

Five more passengers were injured in the accident Tuesday, Xinhua reported.


The bus was traveling on a highway to Artux city in western Xinjiang, returning the students after a health check when the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the mountain, the report said, quoting police.

Police said 17 of the victims were declared dead at the scene while eight died while being en route to a hospital or during surgery.
