British woman denies having sex on beach

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, Aug. 13 (UPI) -- A British woman accused of having sex on a beach in the United Arab Emirates has had a chance to face her accusers in a Dubai court of law.

Michelle Palmer told Judge Abdul Latif that she and a friend were only kissing and hugging and did not engage in sex, The Daily Telegraph reported Wednesday.

Witnesses testified that Palmer and tourist Vince Acors were doing more than kissing.

"The man lay on his back and she was on top of him. She took off her shirt and they started to have sex," a 21-year-old Palestinian testified. "They continued for ten minutes until a police patrol arrived."

The police officer who arrested Palmer and Acors said "her shirt was off and she was sitting on him and their voices were excited. They didn't even notice me standing there. He was kissing and playing with her chest."

If convicted, Palmer and Acors face up to six years in prison.

They are charged with indecent behavior, having unmarried sex and consuming alcohol.
