ANCHORAGE, Alaska, July 31 (UPI) -- Brig. Gen. Thomas L. Tinsley, a wing commander at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Alaska, died this week of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Tinsley, 45, was shot with a handgun at his base residence Sunday night while his wife and daughter were home, the Anchorage Daily News reported Tuesday.
Air Force Col. Richard Walberg said it was unclear whether his death was an accident or a suicide. There was no indication of foul play.
Tinsley had been 3rd Wing commander since May 2007, managing nearly 7,000 people. Previously, he was executive officer to the chief of staff of the Air Force.
