Va. Tech to keep shooting records sealed

BLACKSBURG, Va., July 21 (UPI) -- Virginia Tech University officials say they won't release some records connected to the April 2007 campus shootings that left 31 people dead.

University spokesman Larry Hincker said the school decided not to release notes taken by senior university officials at emergency meetings on the day of slayings nor will they release notes and e-mail sent to administrators from professors concerned by the prior activities of shooter Cho Seung-hui, the Daily Press newspaper in Newport News, Va., reported Monday.

Cho killed himself after shooting 30 people on the campus in Blacksburg, Va.

Victims' families had wanted the records included in a public archive established as part of legal settlement between the university and survivors, the newspaper said.
