Russia won't extradite Ukrainian official

MOSCOW, July 16 (UPI) -- Russian prosecutors say they won't extradite a former Ukrainian official suspected in the non-fatal poisoning of Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko.

Russia's Prosecutor General's Office made the ruling Wednesday in the case of Volodymyr Satsyuk, formerly the deputy head of the Ukrainian Security Service, the Interfax news agency reported.

Ukrainian investors have charged Satsyuk with "abuse of office and forfeiting official documents leading to serious consequences" and asked Russia to extradite him, but it has refused, citing Satsyuk's status as a Russian citizen.

Stasyuk has been repeatedly cited in connection with the non-fatal dioxin poisoning of Yushchenko in 2004, Interfax reported.
