Guard allegedly helped accused cop killer

NEW YORK, July 13 (UPI) -- A female Rikers Island guard was caught on tape taking an accused cop killer to the showers in the middle of the night, sources say.

Kadessha Mulgrav, a guard at the New York City Department of Correction facility, is under investigation for possibly having sex with Lee Woods, who is charged with killing Officer Russel Timoshenko a year ago.

The New York Daily News also reported Sunday that Mulgrav, 34, is accused of giving Woods a handcuff key and a SIM card for a cellular phone.

Although Mulgrav has denied having sex with Woods, 29, or giving him the handcuff key, she could not explain why she took a high-security prisoner into the showers alone after hours.

Unnamed sources told the newspaper the guard's arrest is imminent.

Officials found the key June 25, when it was spotted in Woods' digestive system by a metal detector before a court appearance, sources said.

Later that day, rookie Officers August Durand, 31, and Michael Santiago, 24, were fired for allegedly giving Woods marijuana, cigarettes, rolling papers and some liquor.

Timoshenko and partner Herman Yan were shot after pulling over a stolen BMW allegedly carrying Woods, Dexter Bostic and Robert Ellis.

Yan recovered, but Timoshenko, 23, died of his injuries five days later.
