MILTON, Ontario, July 9 (UPI) -- Apparent road rage that resulted in a horrific roll-over wreck northwest of Toronto has led to a man being charged with three criminal charges.
Wayne Winsor, 39, surrendered Tuesday to Ontario Provincial Police in Milton after police appealed for witnesses to the 5:15 a.m. crash on Highway 401, a major arterial highway throughout southern Ontario.
Other drivers called police about a black Yukon SUV and a burgundy Pontiac Grand Prix racing to get in front of one another approaching the highway.
OPP Staff Sgt. Scott Lawson said there was "clear evidence" of road rage, the Toronto Star reported.
"The vehicles sped east until the car pulled in front of the SUV and slammed on its brakes," Lawson said.
The 55-year-old unidentified driver of the SUV swerved, hit the center guardrail and the vehicle rolled over several times at high speed. The man, who police said wasn't wearing a seat belt was thrown from the vehicle and died, the Toronto Sun said.
Winsor is charged with criminal negligence causing death, dangerous driving causing death and failing to remain at the scene of an accident causing death, police said.
