Siniora to name new Lebanese Cabinet

BEIRUT, Lebanon, July 5 (UPI) -- Lebanese Prime Minister Fuad Siniora is set to announce a new Cabinet now that all political obstacles have been overcome, sources say.

Siniora was expected to name the ministers as early as Sunday, The Jerusalem Post quoted Israel Radio as reporting.

The 30 ministers will represent the first government assembled under the terms of the Doha Accord, in which pro-Western parties and backers of the Islamic Hezbollah group agreed to share power. Under the agreement, 16 seats will go to the parliamentary majority with 11 seats for the opposition while Siniora will name three himself, KUNA, the Kuwait news agency, said.

A political impasse was overcome Friday when President Michel Suleiman said he was satisfied with the outcome of deliberations he had held with representatives of the Future Bloc MP, Hezbollah, Amal Movement, Lebanese Forces Party and the Reform and Change Bloc.
