Plane catches fire at San Fran airport

SAN FRANCISCO, June 29 (UPI) -- The cockpit of a cargo plane caught fire Saturday night while parked at San Francisco's airport, government officials say.

The Airborne Express Boeing 767 was parked at Plot No. 11 in a part of the airport "far away from regular traffic," Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Bruce Nelson said. However, roads into San Francisco International Airport were closed for a time, the San Francisco Chronicle reported Sunday.

Nelson said the fire was quickly extinguished but was unclear if anyone was injured in the fire and also wasn't sure if the plane was empty or loaded with cargo.

The Airborne Express aircraft had arrived as flight number 1611.
