WOBURN, Mass., June 25 (UPI) -- Briton Neil Entwistle was found guilty Wednesday of murdering his wife and baby girl as they lay in their bed in their Hopkinton, Mass., home.
The jury deliberated nearly 12 hours before reaching the verdict. Entwistle, 29, faces up to life in prison without the possibility of parole when he is sentenced Thursday, the Boston Herald reported.
Entwistle's parents, Yvonne and Clifford Entwistle, said after the verdict that they believe their son's wife Rachel shot their 9-month-old daughter, Lillian Rose, and then turned the gun on herself because she suffered from depression.
"We know that our son Neil is innocent and we are devastated to learn that the evidence points to Rachel murdering our grandchild and then (committing) suicide," Yvonne Entwistle said. "I knew Rachel was depressed.
"Our son will now go to jail for loving, honoring and protecting his wife's memory."
Entwistle, an unemployed computer engineer, was accused of shooting his 27-year-old wife and their daughter in the master bedroom of their home on Jan. 20, 2006.
