Peterson subpoena of police records fought

JOLIET, Ill., June 24 (UPI) -- Illinois prosecutors asked a judge to quash a subpoena filed by former police officer Drew Pearson, who is seeking evidence in a gun case against him.

The Will County State's Attorney's office contended the subpoena is overly broad and seeks evidence not strictly relevant to the firearms case against Pearson, who is also under scrutiny in the disappearance of his fourth wife last fall.

Peterson has not been charged in his wife's high-profile disappearance and the death of his third wife has been ruled suspicious. However, he was charged last month with possession of an illegal AR-15 rifle and scope.

Peterson lawyer Joel Brodsky says his client used the rifle in his old job with the Bolingbrook Police Department and is subpoenaing records to back up that contention, the Joliet Herald-News reported.

A hearing on the issue was scheduled for next Monday.
