ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, June 21 (UPI) -- Talks between the two major leaders in the parliamentary coalition in Pakistan have failed to produce agreement on how to get rid of President Pervez Musharraf.
Asif Ali Zardari, head of the Pakistan People's Party, and Nawaz Sharif held a lengthy meeting, their second in three days, the Press Trust of India reported. Khwaja Asif, a spokesman for Sharif's PML-N Party, said that there were differences on "modalities" on impeaching Musharraf and restoring the judges that the president removed from office.
A poll of Pakistani voters released Friday found that 75 percent say Musharraf should resign and that parliament should take action if he refuses to leave.
Farhatullah Khan Babar, a spokesman for the PPP, told Dawn TV that talks will continue until some consensus is reached.
