Kissinger calls for more U.S.-China talks

NEW YORK, June 21 (UPI) -- China and the United States should strengthen their talks to better encourage understanding and trust, Chinese Vice Premier Wang Qishan said.

In a meeting with former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger in New York, Wang said a stronger U.S.-China relationship would produce more sound policies, Xinhua reported Saturday.

Wang said the world cannot afford another Cold War, while Kissinger said stable U.S.-China relations are in the interests of both countries, the official Chinese news agency reported.

Wang arrived in New York Friday after co-chairing the fourth session of the China-U.S. Strategic Economic Dialogue in Annapolis, Md.
