Woman pleads guilty in China spy case

WASHINGTON, May 29 (UPI) -- A Chinese national pleaded guilty in a U.S. courtroom to charges she was involved with a spy ring.

Yu Sin Kang, 33, New Orleans, could be sentenced to 10 years in prison for acting as an intermediary in the delivery of classified weapons information to the Chinese government by one of its agents.

CNN said Wednesday's plea in Virginia wrapped up an investigation into the stealing of information about weapons shipped to Taiwan by the United States.

The case involved convicted spy Tai Shen Kuo, who was also a resident of New Orleans and bought the information from a Pentagon analyst.

Kang's role was to pass the package on to another Chinese agent, prosecutors said.
