Report: Canadian cabinet shuffle coming

OTTAWA, May 28 (UPI) -- Canada's minority Conservative government is expected to undergo a Cabinet shuffle in coming weeks, senior insiders told the CTV News network.

The sources said Prime Minister Stephen Harper will use this week's resignation of Foreign Affairs Minister Maxime Bernier to move ministers around. Bernier stepped down after admitting he had left classified documents in the home of a former girlfriend who had connections with a biker gang.

He was replaced by David Emerson, whom the source said would stay on.

Another minister reportedly up for replacement is Secretary of State Helena Guergis, who came under criticism earlier this year for her taking two years to negotiate the release of a Canadian woman from a Mexican prison, the report said.

The sources said the shakeup would also see the ministers of finance and industry swap positions, CTV said.

Harper is on a three-day tour of Europe, and wasn't available to comment on the report, CTV said.
