NAPLES, Italy, May 26 (UPI) -- Italian police say they arrested 53 people and confiscated millions of dollars in assets from the crime family featured in the award-winning film "Gomorrah."

Of the people taken into custody during the Monday bust in Casal di Principe out side of Naples, was Giuseppe Iovine, whose brother is reputed Casalesi crime boss Antonio Iovine, ANSA reported.

Iovine's deputy Gianluca Pagano was also arrested.

Police said some of the 80 million euros (more than $126.22 million) in assets consisted of real estate, company shares and expensive cars which the family obtained through illegal operations.

Police added that they have reason to believe the Camorra may have paid off candidates in the provincial elections in 2004.
