Cop draws prison for lying in fatal raid

ATLANTA, May 22 (UPI) -- An Atlanta police officer convicted of lying to investigators about the shooting of a 92-year-old woman was sentenced to 4 1/2 years in prison Thursday.

The sentence, handed down by Fulton County Superior Court Judge Michael Johnson, included six months on probation for police detective Arthur Bruce Tesler in the botched drug raid Nov. 21, 2006, that resulted in the death of Kathryn Johnson, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution said.

She was fatally shot after she fired at police as they burst into her home using a "no-knock" warrant.

Tesler, 42, was acquitted on two other charges. Two other officers involved in the raid pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter.
