ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, May 8 (UPI) -- Pakistan's coalition leaders met in London to discuss a draft parliamentary resolution on reinstating judges dismissed by Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf.
Former Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, leader of a faction of the Pakistan Muslim League, and Asif Ali Zardari, husband of slain Benazir Bhutto and head of the Pakistan People's Party, need to approve the resolution drafted by legal experts of the two parties, which head the Pakistan's coalition government, the Press Trust of India reported.
The judges were sacked by Musharraf during his brief emergency rule last November. Since then the reinstatement of the judges has become a major issue within the coalition.
Sharif has been quoted as saying the judges issue be settled by next Monday after the National Assembly passes a resolution. Zardari reportedly hasn't committed to a deadline.
"When martial law can be imposed in the country without any legal justification, the judges, too, can be brought back through political will," Sharif said Wednesday in London, the state-run Associated Press of Pakistan reported.
