Wells was exiting the Dan Ryan Expressway during rush hour Friday evening when his truck allegedly hit people waiting at a Chicago Transit Authority bus stop and those on an escalator at the train station.

Wells reported declined to take provide a urine sample but a blood test turned up no sign of alcohol and he was able to walk away from the wreckage, the Chicago Sun-Times says. Chicago police said they planned to check Wells' log book in an effort to determine whether he might have been taking drugs to stay awake.

They also said they wanted to review video surveillance tapes.
