Educator sues over claims about conduct

NEW YORK, April 16 (UPI) -- A former assistant principal in New York's public schools is suing teachers and a parent who reported she made her students eat with their hands.

Nancy Miller claims she was slandered by the 2005 complaints leveled by teachers Margarette Tassy and Marie Fouche and parent Francia Devil, the New York Post reported Tuesday. She is seeking $2 million in damages in Queens Supreme Court.

Miller was demoted after the Board of Education said investigators found some of the allegations made about her were true. Those included that she had called her students "animals" after they acted up in class and then made them eat without knives, forks or spoons.

The investigation found no proof she showed prejudice toward Haitian students.
