Small plane crashed into homes near LA

LOS ANGELES, April 12 (UPI) -- At least four people were injured Saturday when a small plane crashed into two houses not far from Compton Airport near Los Angeles Saturday, police said.

The crash occurred just before 4 p.m. PDT as the pilot was preparing to land the Cessna 310, a spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration told the Los Angeles Times.

Fire officials said at least four people, including the pilot, were critically injured and were taken to hospitals for treatment.

There was no immediate word on how many of the injured were in the houses the plane hit, the newspaper said.

FAA spokesman Ian Gregor said the twin-engine plane was heading from San Diego to Hawthorne Municipal Airport near Los Angeles.
