Book: Belgian king denies daughter

BRUSSELS, April 11 (UPI) -- A Belgian woman who claims to be the illegitimate daughter of the country's king says in her new book that she is angry at being ignored by the monarch.

Delphine Boel, 40, said in her new book, "Cutting The Umbilical Cord," that she was born of an affair between King Albert II and her mother, Baroness de Selys Longchamps, The Independent reported Friday.

Boel said that while King Albert has admitted to the affair, he denies that he is her father. She said his denials have caused her a great deal of pain and anger.

"You are responsible for the child you produce. You do not abandon it. That is what my father has done," she wrote in her book.

Boel said the book represents her final statements on the subject of her parentage.

"This is pretty much the end of the story. I have said what I had to say. If there are any more questions, please go to the other party, which is the palace," she told reporters Thursday.
