British terror targets unveiled in trial

LONDON, April 5 (UPI) -- Documents presented in a Crown Court trial in the London suburb of Woolwich unveiled a list of potential terrorist targets throughout Britain.

The documents, allegedly found on computer memory sticks belonging to suspected terrorist Assad Sarwar, indicated that Heathrow Airport's control tower and British nuclear power stations were targets, The Times of London reported Saturday.

Prosecutor Peter Wright told the Woolwich Crown Court that Sarwar was allegedly a terrorist ringleader who selected potential targets in Britain.

"It is the Crown's case that he was one of those engaged in this plot with direct links to those overseas who may have a clear interest in the success of any such terrorist outrage struck in the name of Islam," Wright said Friday.

Wright is facing terror charges, along with seven other men, for allegedly organizing a plot to destroy seven transatlantic airplanes.

The Times said the documents showed other potential attack sites in Britain included gas and oil terminals, and the gas pipeline running from Britain to Belgium.
