Pakistan leader promises constitution

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, April 4 (UPI) -- Pakistani Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani promised Friday to restore the constitution and ensure an independent judiciary.

He called also for upholding the supremacy of the parliament in a television message on the occasion of the anniversary of the death of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, founder of the Pakistan People's Party and father of slain former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto,

Bhutto, he said, gave Pakistan a unanimous constitution and made it a nuclear power.

The PPP has said it will get a resolution passed in parliament to apologize to the nation for the "judicial murder" of Benazir Bhutto, PTI reported.
