CARACAS, Venezuela, April 3 (UPI) -- Venezuelan officials said Wednesday they rejected recent documents that allege the country planned to fund Colombian leftist rebel groups.
According to the Foreign Ministry, the documents provided by Colombia were "incomprehensible" and should not be considered valid proof the Venezuelan government planned to finance the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC, Globovison reported Wednesday.
Colombia recently renewed accusations that Venezuela plotted to back FARC financially, citing analysis of computer files discovered on the laptop of a slain FARC commander that revealed Venezuela intended to donate $300 million to the rebel group.
Colombian forces killed rebel commander Raul Reyes along with more than two dozen FARC fighters during a March 1 incursion into Ecuadorian territory, a move that stressed relations between the countries.
