Four U.S. Marines face rape trials

TOKYO, March 6 (UPI) -- Four U.S. Marines accused of raping a 19-year-old Japanese woman in Hiroshima last year will face courts-martial, a military spokesman said Thursday in Tokyo.

Charges were filed against Sgt. Lanaeus J. Braswell, 25; Lance Cpl. Larry A. Dean, 20; Gunnery Sgt. Carl M. Anderson, 39; and Gunnery Sgt. Jarvis D. Raynor, 34; Master Gunnery Sgt. John Cordero told CNN.

The first court-martial is scheduled for April.

News accounts said the four allegedly attacked the woman in a car in a parking lot near a restaurant where they met on Oct. 14. Japanese authorities investigated but didn't file charges.
