Montreal couple sought in baby's death

MONTREAL, Feb. 29 (UPI) -- Police in Montreal have issued arrest warrants for a couple from Haiti suspected in the shaking death of the woman's 9-month-old son, local media said.

Flovelyne Jean-Louis, 19, and her boyfriend, Casy Pierre Mesidor, 26, are wanted for questioning into the boy's condition, which included a brain hemorrhage, fractures and bruises when paramedics responded to call about a baby with breathing problems Feb. 16.

The boy died Wednesday, and the couple hasn't been seen since last Friday, the report said.

"Following (an) autopsy, we were able to establish that he really died from some violence, I don't exactly know of what nature," Constable Lynne Labelle of the Montreal police told reporters Thursday, although she said the injuries were consistent with shaken-baby syndrome.

The couple first came to Montreal in October via the United States, where the boy's biological father lives, the Gazette said.
