Hezbollah death blamed on Syria

DAMASCUS, Syria, Feb. 29 (UPI) -- The wife of slain Hezbollah leader Imad Mughniyah blames Syria for his death, while a Syrian investigation implicates Arab nations, a report said.

"The Syrian traitors assisted in killing my husband," Saada Badr el Din reportedly told an Iranian Web site, reported al-Arabiya Friday. She cited Syria's refusal to allow Iranians to investigating the assassination as proof of their involvement in a car bombing that killed Mughniyah in Damascus Feb. 12.

A dispute was reported between Mughniyah and Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nassrallah following attempts by Mughniyah to oust and replace Nassrallah and take his place, the report said.

Meanwhile, Syrian investigators concluded that "several Arab nations" conspired with Israel's intelligence service Mossad to kill Mughniyah , Israeli daily Yidiot Ahronot reported. Syrian investigators said they would publish results of their inquiry after the Arab League meeting in Damascus in March.

After the bombing, Iran, Syria and Hezbollah blamed Israel, which denied involvement in the killing.
