LONDON, Feb. 21 (UPI) -- Prosecutor John Price told a British court three men "carefully planned" to shoot a bridegroom during a wedding reception.
Jason McInerney, 20, brother Kirk, 18, and cousin Martin Carty, 18, denied shooting Joseph Mitchell, 20, who suffered a thigh injury at the hands of a masked gunman as he was walking to cut his wedding cake, The Sun reported Thursday.
The men, on trial for attempted murder, robbery and grievous bodily harm, allegedly fled in a stolen car after one more bullet was fired into the building's roof, authorities said.
McInerney pursued Mitchell's 19-year-old bride before the wedding, but she refused to date him, Price told the court.
Price said the bride allegedly received a call shortly before the wedding during which a man said, "I'm going to kill you, your boyfriend, your mum and dad."
