Firefighters found Alexander Townsend and the two boys, Keon Townsend, 5, and Sabree, 3, in a rear bedroom, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported. Sabree was pronounced dead at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children, while his grandfather and older brother were pronounced dead at the scene.

The boys' stepfather told WCAU-TV he tried to reach them but was unable to because of the smoke and intense heat. He said he had to jump from a window to escape.

Firefighters said the house did not have working smoke detectors.
