The videotape of a man, who is allegedly Gray, assaulting the child Dec. 21 was released by police Friday in hopes of receiving tips that would lead to an arrest.

After a flurry of phone calls into police, authorities were able to arrest Gray at a relative's home on Detroit's west side.

"(The video) grabbed at your heart," said Deputy Chief James Tate, Detroit Police spokesman. "This child did nothing to deserve this beating."

If convicted on all charges, Gray could be sentenced to at least four years in prison.

He was being held in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bond pending a Jan. 17 preliminary hearing.
