WICHITA, Kan., Jan. 7 (UPI) -- Police in Wichita, Kan., have arrested a man who drove his car all the way through City Hall.
Wichita Police Sgt. Bart Brunscheen said the man parked his car in the building's parking garage after the indoor joy ride and then took up a position face down on the ground to await his arrest, KAKE-TV in Wichita reported Monday.
Brunscheen said an officer recognized the car as belonging to a man who had told police hours earlier he was having suicidal thoughts and planned to drive his car into City Hall -- a threat that was not taken seriously. The officer attempted to pull the man over, but he jumped the curb and drove into the building's east side glass doors and out the west side glass entrance.
The sergeant said the damage to the building was extensive. However, he said no one -- including the driver -- was injured.
