Anniversary No. 104 for Wright brothers

KITTY HAWK, N.C., Dec. 17 (UPI) -- About 1,000 people visited the Wright Brothers National Museum in Kitty hawk, N.C., Monday for the 104th anniversary of the first powered airplane flight.

Darrell Collins, the memorial's historian, says it is not just the Wright brothers' achievement that draws people to the memorial, but their story as well, The News & Observer in Raleigh reported Monday.

Collins said people are attracted by the fact the brothers worked together with few resources other than their own hope and determination.

"In less than a minute," he stated, "they changed the world."

Orville Wright piloted the world's first successful powered aircraft Dec. 17, 1903.
