Woman imprisoned by online friend

EVANSVILLE, Ind., Dec. 5 (UPI) -- A woman who flew from England to Indiana to join a man she met online is now stranded in the United States with no money or passport.

Sarita Callender and her two children have been staying in shelters and, more recently, with a friend, the Evansville Courier & Press reported.

Callender said she thought she had gotten to know Michael Anderson through e-mail, telephone chats and text messaging. She was not necessarily expecting a romantic relationship but Anderson had suggested a business partnership with the two of them trying to get into television and movie writing.

When she arrived in Evansville, Anderson took her passport and those of her children, other identification and her money, supposedly for safekeeping. She became increasingly suspicious of his behavior but was afraid to call police because she could not prove her identity or even that she had children.

She finally did make the call when she found court papers that said Anderson was facing criminal charges for imprisoning women.

Anderson now faces even more charges.
