COLUMBUS, Ohio, Nov. 29 (UPI) -- Two Columbus, Ohio, police officers were fired after they allegedly asked a 22-year-old woman to bare her breasts during a traffic stop.
The officers were accused of coercing the woman into showing them her breasts to keep her boyfriend from getting arrested on an outstanding traffic warrant, The Columbus (Ohio) Dispatch reported Thursday.
Officer Scott Shepard, 28, and Officer Donny Smith, 26, never disputed that the woman flashed her breasts, but they contended she did so on her own, the newspaper reported.
Their firings Wednesday by the city's safety director "went above and beyond" the recommendation of Chief James Jackson, said Police Division spokeswoman Amanda Ford.
Jackson had recommended that only Shepard be fired in connection with the March 11 traffic stop, while he recommended Smith serve a 30-day suspension.
