Student foggy about night of killing

PERUGIA, Italy, Nov. 23 (UPI) -- A U.S. university student said she was unsure exactly where she was the night her British roommate was killed in the Italian villa they shared.

Amanda Knox, 20, of Seattle, provided police with a written statement on the day she was questioned about the death of exchange student Meredith Kercher, 21, CNN reported Friday.

In a copy of the four-page statement obtained by CNN, Knox wrote that she's not sure she was at their villa in Perugia the night of the killing but is sure she had nothing to do with Kercher's death.

Knox, in the statement, said she believes she spent the night of Nov. 1 at the home of her Italian boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito, 23, also being held by police.

Kercher was found dead the next day with a stab wound to her neck. A knife found in Sollecito's kitchen reportedly had both Kercher and Knox's DNA on it.

Authorities said Knox has given police at least three different stories about what happened. She said the changes in her stories could be attributed to shock and stress.
